Shine Dance Festival vs. Shine Dance Challenge

Shine Dance Festival was created for dancers of all ages & abilities to come together in an encouraging environment, where all dancers receive a medal for their achievements.

Shine Dance Challenge is a new event specifically designed to push the more advanced dancer to new heights. While maintaining the fun & inspiring atmosphere SHINE is known for, the Challenge provides competition at a higher calibre level by awarding 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placements in each category. The challenge also includes a scholarship class where select dancers in the competition work with adjudicators to be considered for scholarships & awards.

How does the Scholarship Class work?

Dancers with outstanding talent & dedication who have been recognized throughout the competition by the adjudicators are selected to participate in a master class on the final day of competition. During this class, dancers work exclusively and intimately with the adjudicators to be considered for scholarships & special awards. Dancers who have been chosen to participate in this scholarship class will be notified and given details before the final day of the competition.

What is Video Judge?

Video Judge uses state-of-the-art video and audio systems to provide the ultimate educational tool for dancers. With Video Judge you receive your adjudications on a single DVD with multiple audio tracks and a powerful menu system so you can listen to the judges’ comments while viewing the actual performance.

How do you select your adjudicators?

Our panel of adjudicators is carefully selected based on teaching and performance experience as well as professional reputation. All Shine adjudicators have practice working with children and are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge and expertise. Every effort is made to avoid possible conflicts of interest and to ensure unbiased results.

What about video & photos of dancer performances?

You can purchase professional quality photos and DVDs right onsite at the Challenge! Shine is pleased to have professional photographers & videographers capturing every performance.
